"Tuning to A=392 is basically tuning your G lute to F, that is, down a whole step. Labeling it "G" does help you if you're used to thinking in G. What are you using for a reference? A fixed tone? An app? If an app, after choosing the Temperament mode…"

  • Thanks, Sean, for adding me in your list and your kind words

  • Hi Sean,

Sure, go ahead and post it there. It's nice to make as many lutenists' mornings as efficient as possible:) I think the tutorial is missing a step though, you should click "disable other filters" in the bottom right corner, so it doesn't download anything extra.

  • Thanks for the comments! - I am planning to take the plunge this Christmas (with a bit of funding help from my wife).
Not sure about the nails - I would like to keep them for the guitar, so might have to put up with a bit of "clicky", or maybe it is possible to develop a (quiet) guitar stroke method without nails, as I think I read somewhere that the early guitarists didn't use nails?!

Will let the group know how I get on ...

    Best wishes,
    John

  • This is way better than Dartmouth so far!
  • Hello! Oh, yes, I like verry much Phalese. I would be verry happy if you can help me. Thanks verry much. Oh, your videos is verry nice!
  • That sounds like fun. Please let me know when. Would like to see your Dalza transcriptions for ren guitar sometime.
  • Hi Sean,

Thanks for your note. I changed computers and your e-mail address got lot in the translation.

The ren guitar is an annoying instrument because it is so much fun and takes time away from the lute. I recently acquired the Phalese Selectissima from Tree editions in Germany. Mostly re-cycled Le Roy, but also some new pieces.

Hope you are doing well. Well will you be performing in public again?

    Best

    Michael
